Charity Announcements!

Good morning everyone! I have some really exciting news for you today.
Here at P&P we have been working hard on a couple of Charities. The month of October we sold Breast Cancer Awareness duos with a plan of donating profits to a local Organization called Little Red Door. This particular Cancer Service was the one I went to when I had a cancer scare. The people there were professional and kind, and they got me the tests I needed very quickly. I wanted to do something for them in return. With your help we were able to raise enough money to help them pay for 15 mammograms OR 25 CASES of Nutritional Supplements! That is huge (over $500 huge)! Those Nutritional Supplements are sometimes the only thing cancer patients going through chemo can tolerate. Little Red Door spends thousands of dollars on these supplements every year. We did a great thing this year and hopefully next year we can do it again!
The Breast Cancer Awareness polishes are still on sale in our etsy shop and the profits will still be donated to Little Red Door once all polishes have been sold.

I also recently held an auction for a very special polish I named "Superstorm". Superstorm is a green/pink/purple color shifting polish with a holographic shine. I only had the materials to make less than 20 bottles. So I auctioned 15 of them off in order to raise money for Hurricane Sandy Relief. I am incredibly impressed with some of the bids that were made. I am so thankful to all of you. Your support is phenomenal!
With your help we were able to raise $573! In the scheme of things this isn't that much. But for 15 strangers to come together for this cause and raise this kind of money is absolutely amazing to me. So here you have it, $573 towards the billions it will cost to rebuild what Sandy took away from us. Every little bit helps and everyone that was involved in this effort should be so proud!

The money raised from this auction has been donated to Red Cross Sandy Disaster Relief fund.

Right now we have another Charity cause we are working on. When you purchase a bottle of "It Gets Better" from our online shop, 50% of the profits will be going to the It Gets Better Project.
The It Gets Better Project was created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach – if they can just get through their teen years. The It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers in the LGBT community that they are not alone — and it WILL get better.
I created this polish for all of the people I have lost to bullying. I understand not everyone agrees with my views on human rights and that is ok. I made this polish so that I could donate 50% of the profits to an organization that I appreciate.
The It Gets Better pledge:
"Everyone deserves to be respected for who they are. I pledge to spread this message to my friends, family and neighbors. I'll speak up against hate and intolerance whenever I see it, at school and at work. I'll provide hope for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other bullied teens by letting them know that it gets better."

This polish is a mint green crelly (creme/jelly base) packed full of multicolor holo hexes.

NOTD - BCA

BCA aka Breast Cancer Awareness was a franken I made in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. At the time the franken had a slight blue tint. I've re-formulated it to have a purple tint. It still is packed with pink glitter though. I support awareness for all types of cancer but Breast Cancer has a very special place in my heart. It has taken too many people from me and will soon be taking another. I don't mean to be a downer but I feel like she deserves a mention on my blog. She fought Breast Cancer for years and finally became cancer free. Recently she went to the Dr and was told the cancer had come back and had spread to almost every part of her body including her bones. She was given 3 weeks to live. I've been going back and forth between being heart broken and mad. We thought we beat it, but it came back to beat us. It angers me so much. I wish I could just choke the life out of cancer with my bare hands. Even  as I type this I am plagued with tears and emotions for all the people out there fighting literally, for their lives. I even have several followers who are fighting for their health. To you, I wish you all the happiness and health in the world.

The reason I chose this polish for my NOTD today was to announce that I will now be selling it on my etsy page and 100% of the profits will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. I wish I could do more. I will be making more frankens for this cause in the up coming months and I hope you all will support me and this cause. I really appreciate it

Color Club Vintage Couture and Pink Glitter!

I love the color of Vintage Couture but the formula is horrible. It is one of the streakiest formulas I have EVER worked with. I had to use 3 layers and it still looked streaky. The pink glitter makes the streaks not as noticeable. A friend of mine said my nails look like something out of the 50's lol! I have to say I kind of agree. I really like the way they turned out.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway if you have not already! Donate any amount to any breast cancer awareness/research fund of your choice and email me with a confirmation to Prettynlacquer @gmail.com. You can be entered up to 10 times depending on how much you donate. To see the prizes please check my blog. Thanks everyone!

Pink Polka Dots!

This is my second Pink Mani for Breast Cancer Awareness month! I used one coat of Salon Perfect nail polish in Honeysuckle as a base. I found this gem at Wal mart the other day for $2.98. It is a fabulous polish. Full coverage in one coat and it is a very pretty color. They had a good mix of colors. I also picked up a shade called Olive that reminded me of China Glaze's new Westside Warrior. For the dots I used China Glaze Go Go Pink  (light pink) that came with a special package for Breast Cancer Awareness at Sally Beauty Supply. It came with a beautiful keychain and a bottle of Seche Vite top coat! This special package is going to be one of the giveaway prizes this month! The other pink spots are China Glaze Strawberry Fields which is also being sold for Breast Cancer Awareness month! It was a lot of fun doing this mani. I have a dotting tool but I used some tooth picks for the dots this time.

I AM having a giveaway this month. I am asking for people to make donations of $1 or more to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (or any Breast Cancer Awareness fund of your choosing) for every $1 donated you will be put into a random drawing for a plethora of prizes. Nubar Hyacinth Sparkle

Well happy October! As you may know I am doing special Breast Cancer Awareness manicures all month long. As you can see Nubar Hyacinth Sparkle is not a pink polish. It is a gorgeous purple glitter polish. But I did do a special Pink Ribbon and I thought it looks so pretty and strong that I decided to use it as my opening mani for the month.

Don't forget, I AM doing a giveaway this month. Anyone who donates $1 or more to
Breast Cancer Research will be placed into a random drawing to win some fabulous prizes.
I have not shared the prizes YET but they are good! So, I will be posting about the giveaway
in every post this month and you can donate anytime before October 22nd! You will see the
prizes this coming week. Thank you everyone!
