Zoya Neeka

I picked this polish up the other day on one of my "I'm upset so I am going to shop" splurges. This is Zoya Neeka from the Fall 2011 Smoke and Mirrors collection. I am usually not one to like darker colors. I generally stick with lighter or brighter colors with the occasional darker shades in the Fall and Winter. But these are all quite nice. I like that some of them are pretty close in color but you can choose between creme and sparkle. I originally planned to buy Gem but when I seen the display in ULTA I was very drawn to the purple shades (surprise surprise) and Neeka ended up being the winner. I do plan on picking up a couple more of these when I get a chance.
Neeka is darker on my nails than I expected it to be but it is still very pretty. This is a smokey purple color and has brilliant gold sparkles. This is an excellent fall color and compliments my skin tone quite nicely.
The formula was very nice. I usually do not have issues with Zoya's formula except for the occasional gloop from bottles that have been sitting too long. A couple drops of thinner fixes it right up and thay are always good as new. I also wanted to add that this polish seemed to dry pretty fast. I didn't have any issues with bumps or scrapes getting into my nail because it remained tacky, which is very nice since I hardly ever have time to really sit and let a polish dry.

Good job Zoya!

Quick update

I know some of you talk to me on facebook so most of this probably is not news to you. I wanted to let you all know that for the rest of the week and part of next week my posts may be a bit more sporadic. I returned this past weekend from vacation just to be greeted with a horrible head cold that now seems to be turning into the flu. I also unfortunately lost my grandmother Monday evening. So I will be mourning the loss of a family matriarch and I appreciate your respect for my absence during this time.
If you pray, I ask that you please send a prayer to the children of my grandmother. This is a great loss for them and one that is not going to be easy. Thank you all for your understanding.

China Glaze Electra Magenta

This polish is part of the Tronica Collection. These are all holographic polishes but they are not what you would expect from a holographic polish. These are not linear holos. They are scattered holos and are mush less chunky compared to the China Glaze Kaleidoscopes. I LOVE this collection! And this particular color is just gorgeous. It is a very nice medium cool toned pink and I believe most people can wear this color.

2 coats.

And of course my accent nail. Kleancolor Holo Chrome!

Essie Naked Truth with a little Kleancolor twist

Like most of the posts this week I am writing this BEFORE Sunday (8-14-11) so that I can post it while I am gone on vacation. This is a very simple mani I did with Essie Naked Truth, Kleancolor Blue Holo, and some stickers I received from a swap. I didn't do anything really special but I thought it came out pretty cute.
Naked Truth is described by Essie as a soft and fluffy off white. It is very nude and neutral. I think it is a very attractive color. When it comes to nudes I am always afraid of them looking yellow on me but this doesn't pull yellow at all. It is very sheer though and at two coats (which is what I stuck with) it was still sheer.
Kleancolor Blue Holo is delicious! I love all their holo glitter polishes though. This blue complimented this mani a lot.

OPI Absolutely Alice!

I found Absolutely Alice recently at a nail salon in the big city. It is over half full so it was definitely a score. I love any blue polish and I adore glitter. This, like so many heavy glitters, needs a lot of thinning after sitting for a while. I had to put in 6 good drops of thinner for this to go on smooth enough to wear. I used two coats of this and I painted my middle finger nail with OPI Gold Digger's Delight to see if it would bring the gold flecks in AA out a little. It didn't work. AA covered my nails completely with glitter.
Of course this was a PITA to get off!

Essie Van D'Go

I have a couple pictures of this polish to show you today. I don't really have much to say about this polish. It is an extreme peach color. It really says a lot. However it looks awful on me. I disliked it as soon as I put it on and took it off right after taking the photos. It looks much better in the bottle IMO. I also did not like the formula much. But I seem to have that issue with Essie polishes quite often which is why I do not buy them much. I bought this and 2 other Essie Polishes when I found them for $3.99 at TJ Maxx.

So in conclusion, pretty color; looks awful on me. Not the best formula. Only needs two coats for full coverage and a second coat gets rid of streaks.

Orly Pixy Stix

I have had this polish since it came out in the Sweet Spring collection in 2010. I really really like it! It is such a sweet color. I mean sweet as in it gives me a toothache! It compliments my skin tone well and the formula is great! It is a beautiful spring/summer color and right now it is my favorite pink. The polish color can be defined as a Guava Pink.

This is two coats.

What do you think?
I remember being so excited about this collection. It was one of the best of the season! I wish I had more of them. I bought 3 of them and 2 are missing? I still have my gumdrop mini lipgloss though lol

Fing'rs Polishes from Ebay

I was recently chatting it up with some women on the MakeupAlley nail care board and came across a picture someone posted of a Essie Starry Starry Night dupe. It was just gorgeous so I asked where she got it and she directed me to an ebay seller who was selling a brand called Fing'rs. The polishes come in little bear shaped bottles. I got mine in the mail this past week and tested them right away. I got the dark blue glitter (the supposed SSN dupe) and light blue glitter.
This is the picture I originally seen that made me buy the polish. I don't think it looks the same on me.

Isn't it gorgeous?! Now here are some pictures of the polish I got.

Of course her picture is much better than mine. The polish isn't bad though. I have the dark blue glitter on all my fingers except my ring finger that I usually use as an accent nail. I put the light blue glitter on that finger. You need at least 3 coats with this polish.

If you are interested in checking these polishes out the ebay buyer i bought them from is jtsastar843s

Chelsea goes on vacation!

Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you know that I will be on vacation ALL week. I have been working on random posts to post throughout the week though. I will still be around to answer emails etc but it might take me more then a few hours to get back to you. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

On a more personal note, there was recently a horrible tragedy here in Indiana and we lost several people. The stage at our Indianapolis State Fair collapsed and killed 5 people and 10 others are still in the hospital in critical condition. I personally am mourning the loss of a Chicago native and activist in the homosexual community but no ones life is more important than anothers. So if you all could pray and send good thoughts this way I am sure all the familes and friends will be very appreciative. Thank you!

Nubar Treasure!

Treasure was part of Nubar's Prism collection. According to Nubar this collection is "Inspired by the colorful play of light through a prism". To us these are simply the holy grail known as Holographic nail polish! I only have one polish from this gorgeous collection unfortunately and it is Treasure. Treasure is medium purple holographic polish. It takes at least 3 coats to get close to opaqueness. This polish is downright gorgeous! I love it so much.

Artificial light
Glorious Natural Light!

As you can see this is more of a scattered holographic (like China Glaze Kaleidoscope) rather than a linear holographic polish (think China Glaze OMG Collection).

Like all Nubar products, this polish is free of formaldehyde, toluene, and (DBP) phthalate, and is vegan and cruelty free.

Pixel Oh Wow!

I seen these in last months ULTA catalog and I immediately asked some girls on a facebook group if they had ever tried them. I didn't get very positive feedback on these little polishes. I was told the ones that they had tried were very sheer, not the best colors, and the bottles were so small for the price! So I decided not to get any but even though I wasn't planning on getting any I looked anyways and my ULTA didn't even have them yet! So it has been about a month and I stopped by there again today. I found the display and was kind of amazed at how many colors they had. The bottles were very small though. I don't think I will buy many more of these IF any at all because of the size of the bottle. Now if they came out with a limited edition collection I might get one or two but I think I got the two I liked the best from the display as it is now.

The ones I got today were Oh Wow! and Oh Wee! Both of these have multi-colored glitter in them. They are very pretty. Oh Wow! is a very pretty light purple. It is very shiny and a bit shimmery. Oh Wee! is more of a berry color and is also quite shiny and shimmery.

I had to put 3 coats on to get a result I cared for. I think these would work really well as a top coat to darken or add shine/glitter to another polish.

I blurred this slightly so you could see the pretty glitter. I could not for the life of me get a good picture of this. The pictures of it on my nails don't even do it justice.
